Visiting Tutor, Rose Bruford College
In May and June I worked as a visiting tutor with a wonderful group of final year European Theatre Arts undergraduate students at Rose Bruford College. Working alongside Dr Gill Brigg, and ably supported by MA student Abby Rosen, the five-week module gave 8 students the opportunity to apply some of their skills and knowledge in a school context, working with children with special educational needs and disabilities.
Using examples from our own and others’ practices, Gill and I introduced the students to some key principles of sensory arts practice. They also spent time observing in school and making and adapting artistic offers to small groups of children. In the final week, the students created two immersive spaces and led interactive sessions for the pupils they had got to know over the course of the project.
”Jill is a very dedicated and hard-working practitioner. The combination of her vast knowledge in the field of sensory theatre, and her care & enthusiasm in engaging with students makes her a highly inspiring educator.”
